Duratrax RT-X 27 ready to run nitro radio control offroad truck

With that sorted the truck was a blast to drive. We had set up a few wooden ramps to see how the RT-X reacted to getting airborne and I'm glad to report it soared through the air like a bird. Unlike most trucks of its size the RT-X didn't have a tendency to get squirrelly in mid air. On the rare occasions that we hit a jump too hot a quick tap of the brakes would pull the nose back down. Due to the RTX's super plush suspension landings were a dream. There wasn't one time during all of our testing that we noted any bottoming out of the suspension, nor did we break anything after many hard landings.Read the full review/article loading with pictures www.rcuniverse.com www.rcuniverse.com -World's Largest Radio Control Community http /market -Buy, Sell, and Trade RC www.rcuniverse.com -Read Radio Control online reviews and articles www.rcuvideos.com - Watch Radio Contol Videos http -Discuss Electric Radio Control Aircraft y

2009 Ferrari California Novitec Rosso

CHANNEL: www.youtube.com TWITTER: www.twitter.com FACEBOOK: www.Facebook.com Novitec Rosso refines the new Ferrari California: sportier styling, a custom-tailored tire and wheel combination in 21- and 22-inch diameters, suspension modifications, more power, and exclusive interior options. Tasteful refinements with aerodynamic benefits characterize the Novitec Rosso design program for the sports car from Maranello. All aerodynamic-enhancement components are made from especially lightweight yet high-strength clear-coated carbon fiber. The Novitec Rosso front spoiler attaches to the production bumper and lends the sports car an even more striking face. Its sophisticated shape further reduces lift on the front axle for even better directional stability at high speeds. The sides are upgraded with striking Novitec Rosso rocker panel moldings for an even more clearly defined racing look. Black side markers add further individual highlights. To reduce lift on the rear axle and thus achieve an optimal aerodynamic balance Novitec Rosso equips the California with a newly designed diffuser for the rear apron and a spoiler lip on the trunk lid. Three-piece Novitec Rosso NF3 wheels also play a major role in the even more stunning appearance of the refined Ferrari. By choosing a staggered combination of size 21-inch wheels in front and size 22-icnh wheels on the rear axle, Novitec Rosso further emphasizes the wedge shape of the car. Car Ramps - Worth Every Penny When Working on Your Car

More and more car owners are choosing to work on their cars instead of taking them in for repairs given the rather dire economic turn of events. If you are or intend to join the group, allow me to give you a tip - buying ramps is well worth the money spent.

The average automobile has come a long way in the last 20 years. You used to be able to pop the hood on a car and find enough space for you to practically stand in the engine area. In the 50s and 60s, people used to actually sit in the engine compartment to work on their cars. Those days are long gone. Pop the hood now and it can be shocking. Every inch of the engine compartment is crammed to the hilt with components.

The lack of space makes it difficult to work on your car. Designers apparently assumed anyone working on the car would have arms that were really thin and had 20 joints in them! Obviously, that's not the case. The real truth is most cars are supposed to be worked on from the bottom up. This is why mechanics have those lifts. You probably can't afford them, but car ramps are an inexpensive alternative that will make your life a lot easier.

Car ramps are exactly what they sound like. There are two of them. They are designed like right triangles with a fairly gentle slope. You figure out where you want to work on your car. It should be a flat surface! You then drive the car half way into the area. Line up the ramps in front of each tire and then slowly drive the car up on the ramps. Park it, put the parking brake on, place something behind the rear tires to brace them and you are ready to go.

Why are car ramps so great? Most cars sit fairly low to the ground. You can slide in under them, but actually working on the car can be a pain because your forearm tends to be longer than the vertical space between the ground and the engine components. To actually do anything, you have to sort of slide off to the side and angle your arm towards the component. The advantage is you can work on the component. The disadvantage is you can't see what you are doing. While you think you are loosing the oil plug, you actually are removing the fuel filter and that just ain't good news!

Your car ramps solve these problems. Most ramps will lift the car a couple feet of the ground. That doesn't sound like much, but it makes a world of difference. You can actually see and work on components without trying to bend yourself like a gymnast at the Olympics. At the same time, the engine components are not too far away from your hands.

Money spent on car ramps is money well spent if your weekend includes getting under the car. Make sure to give them a look.

Custom Headers - Things of Beauty

Who hasn't felt their pulse quicken when a throaty hotrod idled beside them at a stop? The lope of the engine, the sheer custom sound of the car, is an amazing thing. That sound is created by having a finely tuned powerhouse under the hood; however, without a set of headers, that sound (and the power it implies) would be severely handicapped. What are headers, you ask? They are one of the easiest ways to add horsepower to your existing ride, as well as a great way to improve the sound of your engine.

Headers take the place of your stock exhaust manifold and run from the engine's head to the downpipe on your car. What do they do? Headers reduce the amount of back pressure in the engine, allowing the exhaust pulses to travel more freely to the exhaust pipe and out of the car. Why is this important? With stock exhaust manifolds, the amount of pressure buildup in the engine can significantly decrease power output. This is because the engine must work to move the exhaust; that takes precious power away from your wheels. The harder your engine must work to move the exhaust along, the less power it has left over to send to the transmission.

Headers can alleviate much of that problem, adding a significant amount of horsepower to your ride without doing anything more than opening up the exhaust system. With a standard exhaust manifold, the exhaust pulses from each cylinder are forced into the same chamber, building up pressure as each pulse attempts to escape through the down pipe. Headers provide a tube for each cylinder, allowing gasses to move much more freely.

When choosing a header, the best bet is to choose a kit from an established manufacturer, a kit made for your vehicle. While you can make your own headers, it's cheaper and easier just to buy a kit. Buying one that matches your year, make, model and engine size means that you will get the right number of headers (4 cylinders have 1, V6 and V8 engines have 2), as well as the right manifold gaskets and connectors. Never reuse your old manifold gaskets unless you absolutely have to. Also, make sure that your kit comes with mounting locations for your O2 sensor(s).

If you have access to a decent set of mechanic's tools, you can actually add headers on your own. While having access to a shop is a handy thing, you don't have to use one; a set of ramps can be just as handy, as long as you don't mind laying on the ground for a bit. You'll need to remove your old exhaust manifold, first. Loosen the bolts attaching the manifold to your down pipe and then remove the bolts holding the manifold to the head. Remove the old gasket under the header and clean the area. Now, place the new gasket on, followed by the header. Tighten the bolts in an alternating pattern, without tightening any of them fully until all bolts are snug. Reattach the down pipe to the new header and you're set!

DIY Shutters

With the rise in popularity of interior window shutters there are more companies who are now offering DIY shutters. The question is whether it is really so easy to do it yourself if you want a fully professionally fitted finish, as these are not cheap products its not something you want to order and then find you are unable to fit well.

For many years the only option was to order a fully fitted service, where the company you contacted would measure, supply and fit, and take full responsibility for any errors or issues with the products you received. However, as our DIY skills are growing many people are more than confident that they can do it themselves, having tackled a range of tasks in the home, and may also not want to pay the higher prices for something they view as a task they could complete themselves. With the recession tightening the strings on everyone's purse going the DIY route also saves money, so purchasing DIY shutters is increasing significantly in popularity.

Shutter companies have had to recognise this and offer not only the products, but in many cases share their knowledge to allow people to fit their products. While some still prefer to maintain that it should be the exclusive role of specialised fitters, many are happy to help customers through the entire process, providing advice and guides to make it simple. If a company is not prepared to do this then my advice is to look elsewhere, fitting DIY shutters need not be difficult and like me there are a number of companies who specialise in the DIY option.

The key to a good fit is measuring. Make sure that the person who is helping and advising you has a range of fitting experience so that they will know how to fit shutters onto your type of window and be able to predict or spot any issues that might affect fitting. I offer a photo upload service so that I can see what you are dealing with and advise you as if I was in the room with you. If this stage is done properly there will be only one way everything will fit - the right way.

There are also a range of shutter fitting kits, many with pre-made products so that all you need to do is assemble the frame and pop in the panels. It's worth seeing what's available so that you are assembling a minimal range of items and there is less room for error.

Remember, you can always start small and do one window at a time so that you can start with something simple to get the hang of it.

Finally make sure that the company you are dealing with are willing to provide on-going advice during the fitting process. Some are happy to sell you their products but aren't always so keen to provide advice post sale.

While there are exceptions to every rule, and some unusual windows may be a little more difficult, if a company tells you that DIY shutters are too difficult and you should have them fitted, find someone who specialises in DIY and will spend time to make it possible for you.

What is the Average Working Life Expectancy of a Chair Stair Lift?

When we think of life expectancy... a chair stair lift is the furthest thing from our minds. As a matter of fact, for most of us, until just a few years ago, it probably never crossed our minds. According to experts, there are over 7.1 million persons using home accessibility features in the United States. With some of the most common features being raised toilets seats, hand rails, ramps, widened door entrances, adapted door locks, lowered counters, slip-resistant floors and chair stair lifts. With the largest segment of the population being baby boomers, we can easily understand such an astronomical number.

How long should you expect your chair stair lift to work properly before hauling it off to the city dump? Well that all depends. It depends first on if you purchased it new or if you purchased it used. Buying a chair lift is like buying a car. It is possible to buy a used car that gives you ten long wonderful years without you changing the timing belt or the oil.( if I were you I would not try that) On the other hand, you can purchase a used car and if you didn't know any better, you would have thought that the car salesmen went down to Fred's Sanford's Garage, splashed on a fresh coat of paint, switched out the rims and sold it to you.

When you purchase a new product there are some benefits that may not be an option with a used lift. When purchasing a new stair lift the option of purchasing insurance and warranties are readily available. While you still will want to be sure to carefully weigh all of your options, a few more dollars in insurance or warranties could potentially save you thousands down the road.

Also, when purchasing a new lift you can customize your chair to best suit your needs. of course this goes without saying; you are the best person to make customization decisions because you know exactly what daily activities you take part in. So what is the life expectancy of a chair lift? According to manufacturers a chair stair lift should last at least 10 years or longer. So if you are thinking of purchasing a used one, be certain it is a lot younger than 10 years old for best performance.

How to Make Family Road Trips Unforgettable (in a Good Way)

If money is tight this summer but you still want to have a few nice family outings, maybe it's time to rediscover an American classic getaway: road trips.

Imagine the endless possibilities presented by all those roads stretching out in every direction from your home; scenic drives so beautiful they rekindle your love of the land; cute little towns and oddball road side attractions; missed exit ramps; spilled drinks on the cloth seats; cranky young'uns who just want to go home to their computer.

Is it possible to take the whole family on a car trip without tears or tantrums?

After many hundreds of road trips across this great land, I'd like to share with you some tips for increasing the fun and reducing the frazzle on family trips.

Tips for Better Road Trips

Keep it short and sweet. Make a list of destinations within 100 miles of home where your family has never been. Get the kids involved in whittling it down to their favorites and plan to tackle one or two every weekend. If you run out of ideas, pick up some brochures at the local tourist information center. Maybe you'll discover there's a river offering tubing adventures just a few towns over. Or a pioneer fort that lets visitors participate in "olden days" activities. Perhaps a scenic drive through a state park you've been meaning to show the kids for years. Family outings close to home can be fresh and fun if you experience them with your favorite people. The upside to these short jaunts is you won't be stuck in the car together long enough to pick fights.

Leave the mobile media at home. Yes, this will spark World War III but if the kids drive you crazy with their video games and obsessive texting at home, imagine how annoying it will be in the back seat of the car. And if you haven't been observing your kids lately, just check out the headlines:

"Tech Use Up In Kids, Parents Losing Ground"

"More Teens Obsessed with Texting"

"Kids Spend 8 Hours a Day on TV, Internet, Texting"

Yes, going cold turkey will cause withdrawal symptoms (pouting, whining, unconscious twitching of the thumbs). But as compensation...

Give them a low-tech challenge. Get a small digital voice recorder and turn the kids into reporters. Invite them to ask things about their parents and each other that your family has never talked about. Assign them a "story" to cover about each person during the drive. Spin some ancient family yarns that your parents told you. You'll all learn something about each other and have a great souvenir to share with grandparents and friends back home.

Spark their creativity. Hold a photography contest on family trips. Create enough categories so everyone can be a winner. Categories like: Tackiest Roadside Attraction. Best Morning Bed Head. Ugliest Bug Splat on the Windshield. If your kids have to be rivals, the friendly rivalry of competition may help keep the peace.

Eat al fresco. Ah, the lingering smell of fried onions... it just seems to cling to car upholstery, doesn't it? So why not drive past those drive-throughs and have picnics along the way. Pack a cooler and top it up at a local grocery store with enough fixings for a simple but yummy lunch. Even if you have to resort to fast food, take it somewhere nice, spread out a blanket, and pretend you're the smiling all-American family in one of those postcards from the '50s. Sure it's sappy. But fun. Plus your gang will eat better and experience a quaint old tradition: having family meals together. And that may be one of the best memories you bring home from your family outings on the open road.

The Top 10 Uses of Utility Trailers

There are many reasons why it is a good idea to invest in a well constructed utility trailer. While you may think that you will only use a utility trailer a handful of times, the truth is that once you have a trailer, you will find more uses for it than you can imagine.

Simply put, a utility trailer is any type of non motorized trailer that attaches to your vehicle so that you can haul whatever you need to. Utility trailers can be either enclosed or open; they can be large or small; and they can be simple or elaborately styled to match your towing vehicle.

Utility Trailer Uses

There are several uses for a utility trailer. Here is a glimpse at just the top ten uses of utility trailers:

1. Automobiles: From time to time it becomes necessary to haul an inoperable car or truck. Tow trucks are expensive, especially if the distance is great. A utility trailer is a great way to haul vehicles and a good investment if you need to do so regularly.

2. Boats: If you have a boat, you will need a utility trailer to get it to and from the water.

3. Lawn Care Equipment: If you live in a rural area, you may find that you need to haul your mowing equipment from one piece of your property to another. Packing equipment and loading it into a pickup truck bed can get old very quickly. A utility trailer will allow you to drive your equipment right up onto the trailer without the aid of ramps or two strong men.

4. Furniture: Moving furniture is a breeze with a utility trailer. Furniture dollies roll right up onto the trailer and you can haul more than you can with a pickup.

5. Building Supplies: Do you have projects that need to be done around the house? Pick up your own building supplies and save on delivery fees.

6. Bikes, Motorcycles, and ATVs: Recreational vehicles are best hauled on a utility trailer.

7. Livestock: An enclosed utility trailer is most often used to haul livestock.

8. Auction and Flea Markets: If you frequent auctions and flea markets, you will need the hauling capability to bring home your inexpensive and rare finds.

9. Appliances: Utility trailers are ideal for hauling appliances.

10. Debris and Trash: Loading trash in and out of your pickup bed can be cumbersome and clean up can be messy, but it would be worse to have to haul trash in your SUV. Clean up after a big job is a lot easier with a utility trailer.

As you can see, there are many reasons why an investment in a utility trailer is a smart move. I'm sure that with a little time, and its easy availability, you will come up with even more ways to use a trailer.

Cheap Sheds - Where to Find Them

Finding cheap sheds can be difficult, but here are a few ideas that might help you get the shed you want at a price you can afford.

Build Your Own

By far the cheapest method of getting your hands on a cheap shed is to build your own. The lumber can be purchased for a fraction of the price that it would cost to buy a ready made shed and they are very easy to construct if you have a good set of plans. You can cut the cost even further if you are prepared to use reclaimed or used wood that might be a little worn. If your shed is not going to be in main view of your home and you are not that concerned with its aesthetics, but more concerned with functionality, then this will save you a fair amount of money.

Online Auction Sites

If you are not inclined to doing any diy, then you will want to search the online auction sites. There are a large variety of different second hand sheds for sale on auction sites, but always consider that there will often be the added expense of having to collect it from the vendor.

New and Cheap

If you are looking for a new shed and still don't want to spend a great deal, then you can often find new sheds on the online auction sites, but also on sites such as Amazon that offer delivery and often free delivery on orders over a certain amount of money. Other great places to look are at greenhouses or other similar construction for sale that might very well do the same thing as a shed, but might cost less to purchase.

Get It Built for You

Cheap sheds can be found if you are prepared to do a little legwork. Asking a friend who is a diy enthusiast is also an excellent route to go as he can earn a little pocket money and you can save costs by buying the wood and plans yourself.

Walkable Neighborhoods in Austin

What makes a neighborhood walkable? Streets and roads that are accessible for everyone; and have wheelchair ramps, lots of benches with shade and sidewalks on all streets.

Walkable neighborhoods have well designed streets that everyone can use, including bicyclists, pedestrians of all ages and abilities, people getting on and off transit vehicles.

Another thing to look for in walkable neighborhoods are well connected streets that improve traffic and provide many routes to any destination.

Austin has many walkable neighborhoods. These neighborhoods are easy to get around in, and have many amenities that pedestrians can access very easily.

Downtown is Austin's number one walkable neighborhood. Downtown scored a 92 out of a possible 100. The neighborhood has grocery stores such as Whole Foods, several convenient stores. There are also many restaurants, coffee shops, entertainment and parks for citizens to enjoy.

University Of Texas and West University both came in at second, with a score of 87. The University Of Texas is walkable for the students who live on or near campus. Living here makes it easy for students and visitors to be car free and still be able to get around campus and surrounding areas easily.

West University is a neighborhood just west of UT. Students, professors and many others make their home in this small Heritage neighborhood. It is just a short walk to the university, and the streets are lined with trees. Most of the homes in this neighborhood date back to the 1910's and 1920's, making it a nice scenic walk.

North University came in with a score of 83. This neighborhood is in central Austin. Residents have many places to walk in this old neighborhood. One of the most famous places is Trudy's Restaurant, Spider House Cafe and JP's Java, along with the 37th street lighting spectacular during Christmas.

Old West Austin and Bouldin Creek also scored a walkable score of 83. Old West Austin neighborhood has lots of history and plenty of landmarks. The streets are lined with shade trees and the neighborhood has Bed and Breakfast's for visitors. Old West Austin was named one of the 10 best neighborhoods in Austin in 2007. This neighborhood is enjoyable, safe and desirable. Residents of this neighborhood participate in keeping this neighborhood strong and preserving its roots. Chain stores are basically nonexistent in Old West Austin; instead visitors can find specialty shops, restaurants and schools.

Bouldin Creek is a neighborhood that is filled with apartments, homes and mom and pop shops. Running through the heart of the neighborhood is South First Street; with a melting pot of businesses and restaurants.

Austin is full of neighborhoods with shade trees covering the streets and sidewalks, restaurants, bakeries and tattoo shops. That is what makes Austin, Austin!

Next time you are in one of these neighborhoods, find a place to park your car and take time to walk through the streets and look at the yards, trees, homes and businesses that make each neighborhood unique.

Top 3 Questions to Ask Before You Buy a Mobility Car

As there's such a huge range of mobility cars available now there's no longer any reason for people with mobility issues to struggle in and out of more traditional vehicles. Having access to a mobility vehicle can mean having access to freedom so people can enjoy their lives without worrying about the safety or inconvenience of travelling in unsuitable vehicles.

If you're ready to buy a mobility vehicle for yourself or for a loved one to use then this can sometimes be a substantial investment but one which can come with huge benefits. Take the time to make sure you make the right choice of vehicle by asking the questions below.

1) Can the car be adapted to your specific needs?

Everyone is unique so you may find that most cars you try out won't meet your requirements exactly. Most mobility cars can be adapted and modified to give you added comfort and safety, after all there's no point investing in a vehicle if you don't feel confident and comfortable driving it. Some cars are suited to very specific requirements and features such as doors, seat height and storage space for wheelchairs can vary from car to car. Other features to think about include whether a manual or automatic car would be more suitable and what extra adaptations you might need such as a left foot accelerator or a swivel seat. Once you narrow your choice of vehicles down, ask a mobility company if the adaptations you require are possible and how much these will cost. You need to make sure that the car you drive away in is fully suited to your needs so you can enjoy the vehicle for many years.

2) What's your budget for your new car?

Most people have to budget when it comes to buying a new car regardless of if it's a mobility vehicle or more traditional car. When you decide on your budget find out what you can get for your money but don't forget to consider what extras you'll need such as insurance or any adaptations. When you decide on your budget you should then decide on what you definitely need from your car and what would be a nice but not a necessary feature or extra. When you view your potential cars keep these preferences in mind as there's no point considering a vehicle which is not in your budget or can't be modified to meet your requirements. Think about the long term use of your car as well as researching how energy efficient particular vehicles are. If a car isn't very efficient and is going to drink gallons of petrol then it's likely to be very expensive in the long run.

3) Can you have a test drive?

Most good car and mobility experts will allow you to test drive their vehicles. It's advisable to take the time to go for a spin in a number of cars to help you see in reality how easy they'll be to drive and how well they'll suit your requirements. Test driving mobility vehicles can also give you a clear idea of what extras or modifications you might need.

Choosing a mobility vehicle is a big decision so make sure you ask the questions above and more before you make an investment.

Summer Driving Tips in North America

Every summer, millions of people embark on driving vacations across North America. Before you hop in the car this summer, it is important to be aware of important aspects of summertime traveling in Canada and the United States. The following is a list of driving tips that will help make your North American driving experience both safe and enjoyable.

Car Rental: Often people will choose to rent a car because it safe and reliable. The size of the vehicle will affect your gas budget. Smaller cars tend to burn less gas. Larger vehicles will have more space for luggage and gear. Front wheel drive will safely transport you across most of North America, but some locations may have rougher terrain so before you rent, make sure you are aware of the type of roads you will be driving on. For instance, will you be driving in a mountainous area or flat paved road? Make sure seating is both comfortable and roomy. Small cramped seating will make the trip an unpleasant experience. If you are going to travel in the south, make sure you have air conditioning for the hot climate. If you have small children, music or even a television in the back will keep them occupied if you are on the road for long periods of time. Also, make sure you have both liability and collision insurance coverage. You never know when an accident may occur.

Road Side Emergency Kit: In the event that you find your self stranded on the side of the road, you should make sure that you have an emergency safety kit. Basic items to include in a kit are a pair of 12 ft jumper cables, road side flares, flashlight and extra batteries, extra quart of oil, first aid kit, tire pump, tire sealant or patch kit, brake fluid, antifreeze, window washer fluid, and some extra rags. You should also have a good road side assistance package and a working cell phone for emergencies.

Follow the Rules of the Road: North American traffic can vary according to the volume of vehicles on the road. Practicing defensive driving is essential to a safe road trip. Driving in both the United States and Canada is greatly policed. You can receive fines or even have your drivers' license taken away for breaking traffic rules. You must be ready for dangerous actions of other drivers or hazardous driving conditions. Obey all traffic rules such as speed limits, traffic lights, stop signs, and railway crossings.

Maintain Traffic Speed: A vehicle traveling slower than the speed limit may cause a car crash. When entering and exiting freeway ramps, make sure that you maintain an average speed. Keep a safe distance behind the car in front of you. If a car suddenly slammed on the breaks, it could result in a car accident.

Weather Conditions: Rain, fog, and slippery roads, can make for hazardous driving conditions. Make sure you practice safe driving when in bad weather. Use headlights when appropriate.

Alert Driving: If you are driving for many hours, you can often be overcome with extreme tiredness. If you are tired, stop for a rest, or get another passenger to drive. Falling asleep at the wheel can be fatal.

A Heavy Load or Trailer Tow: It is important to take precautions when driving with a heavy load or towing another car, trailer, or boat. You need more space to pass other vehicles. Keep a safe distance from the vehicle that is in front of you. Before you tow something, make sure that your vehicle is properly equipped. When traveling slower than the traffic, put on your hazard lights or pull over to let vehicles pass.

Every year vacationers travel long distances across North America. When planning a summer road trip, make sure that you are equipped with the right knowledge and equipment to make your trip safe, fun, and memorable.

Baby Care Tips - 5 Basic Guides That New Parents Should Consider

Every baby is a blessing and you, as parents, are stewards of this blessing. You have waited long enough to welcome him to the outside world. If you are a first time parent, you may find these tips helpful in looking after your newborn.

1. Feed your baby right. Whether you have decided to feed your baby with breast milk or infant formula, make sure that you are giving him the right amount and at the right time.

Studies have proven that breast milk is still the best nourishment for newborn. However, if you have decided to use infant formula, check its label for the proper quantity and time interval for feeding your baby, unless your doctor recommends otherwise. Help your baby burp after feeding.

2. Have your baby get enough sleep. Newborn babies spend most hours of the day sleeping. During the first few weeks, your baby may sleep for only 30 minutes to 3 hours. After six weeks or more, you will notice that the sleeping pattern of your baby will change.

Do not be bothered if your baby keeps on sleeping as it helps in the mental and physical development of a child. However, you should wake him up if it is time to feed him.

3. Know the proper way of bathing your baby. Bathing a newborn for the first time can be the most terrifying experience for a first time mom. You do not have to bathe a newborn baby everyday.

It is enough to bathe him two to three times in a week using only a sponge. You should do this quickly since your baby is not yet used to cold environment.

Make sure that the umbilical cord will not get wet to avoid infection. You can only do tub bathing once the umbilical cord of your baby falls off.

4. Take good care of your baby's delicate skin. His skin is very sensitive and so you should only use products for babies. They are also prone to skin rashes which are normal. However, if the rashes cause irritation and fever, you should consult your pediatrician.

5. Know when to give your baby his medicine. When your baby was required by the doctor to undergo certain medication, you should observe proper dosage and be conscious on any possible adverse reaction of your baby to the medication.

Motorized Wheelchair Or Scooter For The Disabled - What to Choose?

Motorized wheel chairs and handicap scooters are made to make life easier for people with disabilities. They are both helping them to move around the house, go outdoors and visit favorite places. With them even going to shopping on their own is not an impossible task anymore. It would be the best to have both of them. However, if you have to choose between motorized wheelchair and handicap scooter, here are a several tips that can help you to make a decision.

You should always first discuss this matter with a doctor who is following condition of the disabled person. You will probably find the right answer there.

A very important thing that can help you to decide is a control issue. Motorized wheelchairs are controlled by a joystick and a set of buttons that are easily adjustable. On the other hand, handicap scooters are almost like a bicycle. Therefore, depending on body strength and ability to manipulate the controls, that can help you to determine which one is the right one for you.

Also, depending on the lifestyle of the disabled person, you can make a decision between these two. So, if the person is traveling and driving a lot, you should keep in mind that a handicap scooter can be disassembled into pieces and stored into a car's trunk, and for motorized wheelchairs, you need a mini-van for a transport. In some cases you will need a specialized van to transport a power wheelchair.

And for the end, scooters for the disabled are more affordable then motorized wheelchairs, without the add-ons that you may require.

Feel the Adrenaline While Hitting Huge Jumps With RC Trucks

On road RC cars get a little repetitive after a while because the tiniest setup changes make all the difference when racing other people or getting faster lap times. However in off-road the playing field is leveled a bit due to all trucks needing to handle rough terrain so this means they are not as tightly calibrated as a pavement car. Pure power and appropriate tires are the name of the off-road truck game. The beefier your treads the better your truck will find grip in the loosest of track conditions. They even make tires specifically for good traction on wet tracks. This means any time any where good fun.

There is a huge adrenaline pump for the more sane in society who don't actually jump human scale trucks 10 times their height. These trucks with good motors are really quite fast. Most will go about 30mph with light resistance and some nitro trucks will go 45mph. If they are 1/8 scale trucks that would be equivalent of driving a monster truck 360mph! These little trucks accelerate rapidly and don't need much room to get up to speed. 30 mph on a truck that weighs 10 pounds means jumps are epic at full speed. You want to start out just barely getting air at first to practice air control. You have to modulate the throttle properly to keep the nose level with the horizon for a good landing.

Throttle control really is what it is all about. You have to blast the throttle to load the springs as you hit the apex of the ramp. In other words, at the moment when your land speed is converting into jump height you want a little throttle left to squeeze out more pressure on the ramp to get air. If you hit the ramp with full throttle it will not dampen the springs enough to get as much air. It will still fly like crazy though.

Tricks are very possible using brakes and reverse and sometimes more throttle. Just like you see motocross guys doing flips the same principles apply. If you jump and hit the brakes your nose will come down hard. If you jump and hit the gas or hold the gas, the nose will stay up and you might land on the back end of the truck or do a partial back-flip and land on your lid. So what you do is use what's called in racing throttle blipping( or blip the throttle) to modulate. From 0 to 100 % throttle you find the "sweet spot" to hold the throttle or you can blip it until you level it properly.

Practice landing all four wheels at once before moving on to the more complicated tricks. Also when you move on to the hot tricks you will need to beef up your truck with aluminum shock towers to protect it as much as possible. You might want to consider new tuned shocks for tricking. Springs that rebound well will give you incredible height. Most suspensions out of the box will work fine for basics and huge air. You want to get foam cushioned bumpers with aluminum parts to prevent bad landings from ruining your day quickly. Try to keep the ceiling low until you are confident you won't land on one wheel over and over. Busting a plastic shock tower is not the worst break in racing or playing around but will happen quite a bit. Aluminum shock towers can bend, but just get some thick ones. They will take a lot of punishment.

Electric and nitro versions of trucks both can be tricked and jumped. The ones set up for racing will perform best at stunts. Don't forget about local BMX tracks or even bike trails in the woods. These can be perfect locations for existing ramps to be used and these trucks tear those courses apart. All in all RC trucks are some of the most fun that can be had in radio controlled hobbies. Flying planes are great but seeing the interaction of something without wings doing flying tricks is pretty amazing.

Life in Bathgate, West Lothian

Bathgate, West Lothian is a central Scottish town not far from Edinburgh. Though people have resided there historically for thousands of years, Bathgate as a proper Scottish town comes into historical view under the reign of King Malcolm IV of Scotland. The town has had many different spellings over the years and has been a political pawn, changing hands several times. It was even once included in the dowry of Scottish princess Marjorie.

The area was often one of unrest, politically and economically. A silver mine was discovered, only to be abandoned when it was not ore of good quality. Reformers came, the economy changed. In the nineteenth century, Bathgate became a place of great advancement. A railroad line was built and mines other than silver were farmed.

The area became a distillery center for Scotch whiskey and was successful until higher powers decided to make the area solely a motor car industry town. Many different automotive companies opened and employed a great deal of the town. This was successful for only a few decades before Bathgate opened up again to other trades. In modern day, Bathgate has a large mobile phone manufacturing plant to boost the economy.

There are several reasons why Bathgate is famous. Firstly, the man who discovered chloroform as an anesthetic lived and worked here. Some of the residents may have been the first to have comfortable and safer surgeries due to this man's practice. Bathgate is also the site where the world's oldest reptile fossil was discovered. It is three hundred and fifty million years old.

Bathgate does not have a major sports team, but it does have several celebrity residents--the most famous being David Tennant, star of the decades-long British series, "Doctor Who." There is also something quite unique to the area, that being land art. This involves a series of ramps built to form-fit the natural shape of the land and form statues.

ATV Parts

There are various ATV parts and upgrades available for sale. Companies like Yamaha, Suzuki, Honda, Kawasaki and Polaris are the market leaders in ATVs; therefore, their parts are more available than lesser-known brands.

The various parts available are tires, batteries, gas tanks, brakes, cables, ramps, seats, exhausts, levers, seat covers, pistons, rings, gaskets, chain, mufflers, sprockets, bearings, seals, lift kits, heat fighter kits, fenders, bumpers, air filters, handlebars, and ATV exhausts. Another important part is an ATV repair manual. Some repair manuals are graphic in nature, and are more helpful.

Air filters also play an important role in increasing the pickup of an ATV. Installing a good air filter can increase the pickup of an ATV by almost one HP.

ATV guards and radiator grills are used to guard the ATV from damage due to rocks and debris. Two kinds of metals are used for these grills: stainless steel and alloy. Sometimes the stainless steel grills are highly polished, which gives them a mirror finish. They are also useful against ram-air and force-air effects.

The sub-frame guards are useful both to add to the grace of the ATV as well as guard it from damage. The sub-frame guard covers and guards the various parts of the ATV, like the exhaust system, electrical system and hot pipe.

Carburetors play a major part in increasing the pickup of an ATV. Therefore, a large high-performance carburetor is always preferred. Generally, carburetors are available in the market as part of a Carburetor kit. The kit comes complete with pre-jetted carburetor, choice of whirlpull type or thumb-throttle cable, manifold (if necessary), and all necessary hardware for an easy installation.

Crankshaft kits for ATVs are available on the market. The kits are sold complete with rods, top-end bearings and inner ATV crankshaft webs. The multi-ATV cylinder applications come with main bearings.

ATV connecting rod kits consist of an ATV rod, crank pin, crank pin bearing, top-end bearing and thrust washers.

Pet Ramps And Steps For Your Dog

Pet ramps and steps should become part of your dog's necessities from an early age for spinal health. When dogs walk on all four legs, any jarring forces are normally applied at a right angle to the spinal column. When a dog jumps down instead of using portable steps or a dog ramp, the impact pressure is absorbed into the front legs. The line of force is directed down the length of the spinal column, causing compression of the individual discs. This increases the risk that a disc may rupture or become herniated, causing a portion of the disc to protrude and pressure the spinal cord, which in turn typically inhibits nerve transmission. This can lead to pain, weakness, and major paralysis in the hind legs, and can affect abdominal organs from the resulting spinal cord damage.

Training your dog to use ramps and portable steps can prevent spinal damage.

A dog ramp or steps can avoid such trauma. This is especially true with the smaller breeds and dogs with very long backs, such as Dachshunds and Basset Hounds. Ramps or steps are more imperative for these breeds. You will want your miniature or "teacup" dog to use a ramp from the time you bring it home.

Often the miniature dog is too tiny for indoor steps to be considered a good option.

Smaller dogs, or breeds that are lower to the ground, may find it hard to climb stairs, or get out of a pool or onto a boat from the water. That's where a dog ramp can be a help, and also for larger dogs where reaching and lifting can be injurious to both you and the dog.

It's not the jumping up but the jumping down that causes the damage.

Puppies should not be allowed to jump up on people, run up and down stairs, jump up to high places where they are likely to jump off, jump off furniture, beds and in and out of cars. They should be lifted down from these places or, better, be taught to use dog ramps or steps. Puppies and adult dogs should be kept at the correct weight, and not allowed to become fat or obese, to alleviate pressure on the spine. Your pet ideally should be trained to wait to be lifted out of a car or given access to one of the many available ramp systems. Your canine's age and physical condition will help determine the correct ramp slope.

Portable steps are fine for pets familiar with, and physically agile enough to use, standard people stairs. Portable steps for healthy young and middle-age pets of any size provide a great way to get up and down safely from sofas, chairs, beds or most any spot in the house.

Restricting jumping activities is very important in preventing immediate and future cartilage and spinal disc damage. A dog ramp will not only make life more comfortable for your dog, but can help your loved pet remain more active and involved in your life, especially in its later years.

Nissan Murano Sport Utility Vehicle

"SHIFT_the way you move". It's not only Nissan's slogan, but the inspiration behind its newly redesigned and re-engineered 2010 Nissan Murano SUV.

First released in 2003, the Murano SUV is today competitively priced between $28,050 - $38,180. With many luxurious standard features, it's no wonder this crossover has often been described as "revolutionary". Sporty and chic, the Murano stands in a class of its own with the look of an off-road vehicle, designed for an urban lifestyle.

Nissan Murano SUV

The 2010 Murano crossover flaunts sleeker lines and bold headlight clusters. Available in S, SL, and LE, Murano comes in front- or all-wheel drive and combines the comfort of a luxury car with the power of a truck.

Attractive and affordable, the 2010 is not distinctively different than its 2009 predecessor, which was a finalist for Kelley Blue Book's Redesigned Vehicle Award.

Design

Available in double-stitched leather, aluminum, or wood trim, the Murano's stylish interior offers a standard six-CD changer and MP3 jack with some incredible optional features.

Along with Bose® premium audio, XM Satellite Radio, and DVD entertainment system, drivers can add on heated seats, rain-sense wipers, a navigation and rear view camera display, and a 9-inch backseat DVD screen. Privacy glass comes standard along with front and rear stabilizer bars and vehicle-speed-sensitive power steering.

On the Inside

Nissan's renowned 3.5-liter, DOHC 24-valve V-6 engine produces 240 horsepower at 6,000 RPM and has been on Ward's Top Ten Engines list for 13 years. This low-emissions engine achieves 20-25 mpg and features a standard key-less entry push-button start.

The multi-point fuel injection system guarantees a more precise delivery of fuel which improves cylinder-to-cylinder distribution, thereby allowing the vehicle to consume much less energy than it would with a carburetor.

Going for a Drive

Murano's second generation advanced Xtronic CVT™ (continuously variable transmission) ensures a smooth ride while promoting better acceleration and an mpg rating that puts it in the top half of its class for fuel efficiency.

The four-wheel independent suspension complements its sharp reflexes and overall excellent handling characteristics. Stopping on a dime is effortless with antilock disc brakes with BrakeAssist and Electronic Brakeforce Distribution, and standard rear window and LED taillights allow ease in reversibility.

A Dirt Bike Trailer

The dirt bike has long been an excellent form of recreation and off-road travel. Due to the desire to ride these vehicles, as well as motorcycles, specialized trailers were designed to haul them back and forth. The design of these trailers makes it so the dirt bikes will not slide around or turn over in transit like they would on a normal flat-bed trailer.

A dirt bike trailer may be of two primary designs. These designs are open and closed. An open bike trailer is one that has covering. It is open to the air. A closed trailer design is one that encloses the bike to protect it from the elements. Beyond these primary designs there are variations that occur with each type. These variations are primarily in size. A bike trailer might be wide with a side-by-side design so that they can carry two or more motorcycles on the same trailer. A bike trailer might be narrow and designed for only one dirt bike as well.

The main features of a trailer designed to haul such bikes or motorcycles are the tracks installed that will keep the wheels of the vehicle from sliding around as well as proper tie-down points for the dirt bike so that it will not tip over. These trailers also either come with ramps or they may tilt to allow for the easy loading and unloading of a dirt bike.

While open trailers are a fairly common occurrence enclosed ones are a little more rare. This is due primarily to the greater expense of purchasing and operating such a trailer. An enclosed trailer tends to cost more than an open one. It will typically cause greater wind drag lowering the fuel efficiency of the towing vehicle. These types of trailers also happen to be heavier and this also effects fuel efficiency. However, enclosed trailers have several factors in their favor that make them superior to open trailers. These types of trailers protect the dirt bike from the elements, prying eyes, and anyone with sticky fingers. An enclosed trailer can typically be locked so that securing the bike without fear of theft will make long road trips with frequent stops less of a concern. It should be further noted that a trailer specifically designed with motorcycles and dirt-bikes in mind might even be built low enough to the ground that it doesn't significantly increase wind resistance thus negating some of the expense.

There are also collapsible or folding trailers that are available. These typically are used to overcome storage problems as they are sufficiently compact and allow their owner to haul a trailer in a trunk of a car when not in use.

Define Your Uses For All Terrain Vehicles

Have you always been interested in learning more about all terrain vehicles, but perhaps you weren't quite sure where to start? These vehicles can be a lot of fun, and there are many different types to choose from, so getting a bit of understanding about them is important when you are first looking at them.

There are many advantages to owning an ATV. For one thing, they are able to handle rough, uneven terrain much easier than many other types of vehicles. There are two main types of all terrain vehicles. There are sport ATV's and utility ATV's. Sport ATV's are used mainly for fun and recreational purposes. For example, many people enjoying riding through the woods on ATV's. This can be a great way to spend some quality time with your friends and/or family members.

There is a huge selection of ATV's out there that have been designed for a wide variety of ages. Therefore, riding an ATV is something that people of all ages can enjoy. If you own a farm, a utility ATV would be of great use to you. Let's say you have some tree limbs that need to be hauled away. Having a utility ATV on hand would certainly make that job easier for you.

As fun as ATV's are, there are a few safety tips that you should keep in mind. For starters, you should always be sure to wear protective gear, especially a helmet. Also, just like you should never drink and drive while driving a car or truck, you should never operate an all terrain vehicle while under the influence of alcohol. This is because alcohol can impair your judgment as well as delay your reaction time, which could possibly result in a serious accident.

Be cautious with allowing children to operate an ATV on their own. The only ATV's your children should be using are ones that are especially designed for their size and age. You should also never allow a passenger to ride on your ATV with you. This is because most all terrain vehicles are only designed to safely carry one person on them. The reason for this is that having a passenger ride on the back of your ATV often makes it much more difficult to safely control your ATV.

If you're thinking about buying an ATV, there are several excellent ones to choose from. Do your research and before you visit a store, have a good idea in your mind of the primary purpose that you want your all terrain vehicle for. This will help you tremendously when you get to a dealership, where you can quickly eliminate the ones that are not going to meet your goals.

How Online Competitors are Attacking Each Other with Feedback - Beat Them or Eliminate Them

In the world of the media, giving someone attention whether good or bad is a form of publicity and it tends to help the party receiving the attention to become more well known. Publicity then, good or bad, tends to help the overall individual or company, unless it's so horrible. General publicity is good , not bad, even if it's not favorable.

Everyone's entitled to their opinion of a product or service and we are fortunate to have a multitude of choices as well as prices. It's a fabulous thing that not everyone likes or wants the same thing.

The scary and unfortunate part of feedback is when a competitor will go out of their way to downgrade or attack another person's product or service with the sole intention of keeping traffic away from the other person's business for the benefit of their own business.

It takes just as much time to say something positive as it does to say something negative. Intentions of a person's feedback should be considered. Let's say for example, you don't like or understand something about their product or service. If you have good intentions and you are sincere and would be willing to offer positive criticism and advice to that person or company, it's totally possible to send that person or company an e-mail with your concerns and recommendations.

On the other hand, to publicly criticize a product or service and leave the comments and ratings for the cyberworld to see can be very cruel and even harmful to another person's business or traffic to their site. If that's your intention to ruin others, know that if others are following your same line of reasoning, you may be attacked someday or multiple times and it doesn't feel good.

Feedback is important if someone if operating in a manner to steal money fron customers and you can stop others from losing money . There are fraudulent parties operating with destructive tactics and that's great that the internet feedback can prevent people from dangerous financial perils .

The better we all get as individuals and companies, the better we serve others, our society, and the world. If you can help someone in cyberspace be better, please take the time to enlighten them instead of destroy them. Many people will thank you.

Why Are Lowered Floor, Wheelchair Accessible Vans So Expensive

Before I started working at VMI, I had the exact same question. It didn't take me long to figure out why these conversions are so costly. I highly suggest that anyone who is in the market for a wheelchair accessible van, try and visit the manufacturer and see how the vans are built. Since we are in Phoenix, a major vacation destination, many customers like to stop by and take a tour of our manufacturing process when visiting the area.

There are many factors that go into the price of our product, just like any product. There is R&D (research and development) time and expenses. Just as an example, our engineers worked 18 months on the Honda Odyssey with the VMI Northstar conversion. We put a lot of work into every facet of the vehicle and conversion. Within this R&D work is also a lot of testing. For months on end, we have products in our R&D area doing nothing but cycling over and over to test the mechanics and durability of the product. In addition to testing, the vehicle has to go through a myriad of testing to pass all federal government requirements; front crash test, rear crash test, side crash test, and pull testing (for seat belts). These are millions of dollars of costs incurred before we built a single production unit.

The actual production of converting the vehicle for wheelchair accessibility is very invasive. When we receive a vehicle for conversion, the first thing we do is take everything out of the vehicle, everything. Your pretty shiny new van is stripped to pretty shiny shell. We then cut out the original manufacturer's floor. To give wheelchair users the best line of site in the vehicle, we have to add an entirely new floor, which is dropped 11". That floor gets welded back onto the vehicle and then it is a process of putting things back together. We add in all the ramp equipment and ensure it is correctly tied up to the electrical system. We then have to add the ground effect/flares so the new lowered floor is not exposed. The vans go through painting where we have all OEM paint colors to ensure the best match to your van. The next process is for the van to enter our Hurricane Booth to ensure there are no leaks in the van. All in all, each van has more than 100 man hours in order to complete the entire process.

I strongly recommend that when looking for a wheelchair accessible van, do your research. VMI has been converting vehicles for over 20 years. We have thousands of vans on the road with hundreds of repeat customers. When shopping for a van, learn about the manufacturer, call and talk to people that work there, not the sales people, but ask to talk to an engineer or a product manager. I, at times spend the majority of my day by chatting on the phone with customers. We email each other, stay in touch, exchange information. I am always available to talk anytime, for however long. I want the customer to feel educated and confident about what they are buying. Do your homework and remember the old adage, "If it seems too good to be true, it probably is."

Car Ramps - Making Fixing and Transporting Vehicles a Snap

When it comes to car ramps, there is a lot to consider. For example, there are a lot of front end clearance problems to consider. This invention may seem simple, but when you consider that different vehicles have different clearances things do not seem that simple. Other considerations needed to be made include the size of tires, prevention of roll off and over travel, and centering the tires.

There are many different types of car ramps. They come in so many different types and provide different benefits. Many of these ramps can provide 10,000 pounds of G.V.W. per pair. The inclines are typically removable and the steel used is more often than not Heavy Gauge and solid. These also vary based on usage. There are sport ramps that include race ramps and "extenders".

There are wheel cribs, roll ups, flat stoppers, show cribs, and there are even scale ramps. The prices vary, but almost never are expensive. Often times than not you can get fantastic quality for cheap.

Things to consider

There are many other things to consider when purchasing ramps. Does the business or person need gripping rubber feet? How much weight does this product need to accommodate? With the weight of automobiles varying so much it is needed to be considered imperatively. The G.V.W. of the pieces can vary from 7,000 pounds all the way to 12,000! Another important detail to consider is how long of an incline is needed. Typically there is a 7.8 degree incline but the degree can vary.

How to know which ramp is needed?

For 56″ or 67″ ramps, there is a test to figure out which is needed. You need to place one end of a yardstick at the front inside edge of the tire contact patch. It doesn't matter which front tire, either or. Elevate the opposing end of the yardstick until it touches the front spoiler at the bottom. If the vertical distance is 7.25″ or greater, the car will definitely clear the ramps. If not, then it is important to look into some sort of extender.

There are also companies out there that make customized ramps. It doesn't matter whether they are for cars, medical needs, aerospace, or even advertising displays many of the companies out there can make anything you can imagine needing in regards to ramps.

Car ramps are useful tools that can be used right at home in the driveway!

Build your own low profile car ramps for about $60 Part 1

If you have a really low car and want to do basic work on your own you're going to need some ramps. For cars like Vipers and Corvettes you're going to need to buy Race ramps for $200 or more. Not even the lowest profile rhino ramps work. If you dont want to spend the money build your own ramps for about $60. Materials At least a jigsaw. Better equipment=nicer ramps. 6 boards measuring 8 feet long 10 inches wide and 2 inches tall. If you have wider then 10 inch tires get some wider boards. Wood Glue 50 4 inch nails Power Drill Small drill bit Marker Tape measure * I am not responsible for potential injuries or a potentially damaged car. Do this at your own risk. Be safe*
